Here are some MORE great education websites
As I find great websites for kids, I add them to my list. I try to only list the FREE sites that kids actually enjoy. I hope that you find the list useful.
Kerpoof – you
can set up accounts for your students which allows them to save things and work
on them at home. Kids can create drawings, animated movies, cards, and books. I
played with it a bit and its fun. Nothing needs to be installed, this is all
web-based stuff.
Story Jumper
– another great site where you set up your class (they even include handouts
you can send home so the students can work on projects at home if they want).
Create stories, treasure Maps, and story starters.
Its fun!
Game
Goo – educational games from Earobics. Different levels, and different
skills needed for each level. Its cute.
Wordle – make
word clouds. I may have had this on my list already, but if not – here it
is!
Squidoo – a
HUGE list of Smarboard ready educational games! Take an hour and check them all
out. You name it, it’s there! Some links are broken, but most work! The best
ones for elementary schools seem to be towards the bottom of the page.
Mrs
Hurley’s ESL – a list of sites that would be good for English Language
learners and teachers. It looks like she has done her homework – tons of sites
listed. Not just EL stuff, sites for all kids, but she does have a section
specifically for EL kids
FunSchool - tons of games and activities categorized by subject. Kids like the games.
Shel Silverstein - awesome site, if you like Shel Silverstein. Games and activities based around his books. Some of the books are performed by him, which is cool.
Seussville - Cute site with some games and activities all based around Dr. Seuss. They have some printable sheets that might be fun. I wish they let you read the books online, they do link to them so you can buy them, but thats it.
Puzzlemaker - Make word searches, mazes, hidden messages, cryptograms, number blocks, etc. Its free! They do have premium stuff that you can purchase but the site is fully functional without paying.
Free Rice - vocabulary!
Bubbl - brainstorming tools. You need to register to use the site, but its free! Very cool.
Sesame Street - cute site, games, videos, kids can learn about specific Muppets. You can sign up for an account, but you dont need it to use most of the site. Little ones will love it.
Math Pickle - this site explains math concepts. Some great videos with ideas for all teachers. Check it out.
Dipity - site to create timelines. Its easy to use and the timelines look great!
